The perfect Christmas gift!
Maybe you have already seen the story at the about page:
I was planning and planning and drawing and shopping for the gift to my partner. When I described the idea to my brother and his girlfriend, she was so surprised and excited, she directly exclaimed “Ypatia, you must do a gift consulting blog!”. And so was TheGiftBootcamp born!
But enough history lesson, let’s talk about the gift.

The gift :
I already knew that I wanted to give more than one pretty little gift .
I wanted to make it a game, something we can play and enjoy and unwrap while drinking a nice wine!
I don’t know about you, but I myself am a big fan of the “Find the differences”!
So! I got my drawing pens and created a card, where his own living was sketched on both sides. With a little help from photoshop there were the 7 differences between the 2 sides that led to the gifts! And all these gifts were relevant to something or to a story from our relationship, waiting in a big pile for him to discover !

THE LAMP
Could also be the main present. And why?! Because my partner (at the time living at his own separate apartment) had no table or side lamps!
And we all know by now, that the central light of the room is reluctant and wont leave any flaw unseen… So what are we doing here? Trying to unmask cellulite? Not any more! But other that just the mere practicality, just have a look at this lamp! Minimal shapes and real brass finish, this lamp is gorgeous!

THE BOOK
An amazing book (that also became a great movie). I had listened to the audio booked recently and just loved it! Not only it travels you through time and space, at Afghanistan or 1975, but also says a story so humane and humbling that I just want to shout from the rooftop “READ THIS BOOK !”.
A small side note, that will make you see the connection between this book and X, is that as long as I know him, he has been involved and mentoring in a program that supports Afghan women. Yes, he is the best!

THE FACE CREAM
This might have been more my gift that his ; ) As I would be staying at his place most days of the week, I was just ready to have a good face cream available (how much NIVEA Hand cream can a girl use at her face?!). This was my pick: Super rich texture (for them cold Berlin winters), a bit of sea smell and super moisturizing! He and I still use this cream to the day!

THE SWEETS
This gift needs no introduction as it is (or should be) a household classic. After an intense argument over which Kinder product is the best, I have slowly -but surely- been lobbying for Kinder Riegel to always be in one of our cupboards!

THE FIX 01
Fun little side note: My boyfriends table was standing at 85cm height! This is a solid 10cm more that where it should be. As an architect and interior design this has been weighting on me any time I had to use this table. So…The screwdriver is not the gift (God know I want my toolset intact!). The gift is me changing the height of the table to one that is actually ergonomic and makes sense. You will be happy to know the table stands now at a perfect 75cm!

THE FIX 02
Not the long colorful ones, that noone knows anymore how you type or zip the pants… The wall nails! And now you know that the nails are not the gift, but! Fixing his frames on the wall is the task that I offered my help too! See the sketch and trust me its not of my personal creativity. All his frame would be wrapped and laid on the floor untouched (do consultants ever have time for home improvement projects?!).

THE SAM SMITH
I am of course a huge Sam Smith fan and my boyfriend love the sunny chilled California music vibes.
But! Somehow, the song UNHOLY had been in both or our ears and hearts all year long. We danced to it in the kitchen, and all over the house, did a small choreography and all what is expected from true SS groupies!
Fun Fact: While in concert, my boyfriend started singing along to all the songs! But how?! So, he had secretly been studying Sam Smith songs and lyrics for weeks before the show, so that he can join me to the super fun club!
Unpacking and drinking and talking
and laughing!
Perfect new years night with what might be the best present I could ever put together!
If this is my masterpiece, how can the gift this year compared to that?!
